Just remember that recording – just like watching live shows – depends on your Freeview reception. So if you have bad reception, or if someone accidentally moved the indoor aerial, you might find out later that you have a garbled recording.

However, some broadcasters tend to botch this up, and you might find some recordings end prematurely (because the programme started too late, or ran longer than expected). When the box is turned on, observe that the Hard Drive ready message is displayed briefly on the screen during booting. Please allow time to finish Loading Hard Drive & Recording Features, as the time taken to complete depends on the data stored on the HDD.If and when it doesn't finish loading (after 10min) only then try the power reset option If you mostly watch streaming TV (such as Netflix), get your BBC fix via iPlayer and your ITV via their online hub, and you rarely glance at other Freeview channels, then getting a costly Freeview recording box is overkill. You can either skip it altogether, or get a cheap model without recording capabilities (see more Freeview box recommendations here). When your T2•R is turned on, the LED on the front is blue. The correct input on your TV is not selected The 500GB hard drive holds up to 300 hours of recordings, smartly organised into categories and seriesFreeview offers around 70 standard definition (SD) channels, 15 high definition (HD) channels and more than 30 radio channels (depending on your location). Already have an aerial? This is the option we’d recommend. After discussion with Arqiva (who manage the UK’s broadcast infrastructure), we implemented improved behaviour on our latest T3-R model. This behaviour has now replaced the Automatic Service Update on the T2-R: And now – the T3-R, which combines ALL these features in one very affordable device. So at this point, if you’re looking for a Freeview box, I would say the real decision is whether you want something cheap and basic – like the T1 – or a full-featured box that will upgrade your Freeview experience, like the T3-R.

The Manhattan T3-R supports 4K (UltraHD) and HDR content, but for the time being, you won’t get to use it much. With manual padding, you will be able to set your own padding (extra minutes) before and after the programme you’ve set to record. Version 2: More Features ComingProgrammes deleted and emptied from the Trash could not be re-recorded and any repeats were indicated as already recorded. Automatic trash removal now takes place in Standby. Previously this would take place after boot-up and could slow the system down if there was a lot to remove.

Not necessarily - older televisions might still require an external box to access Freeview, particularly if you want to watch channels in HD. The T3-R comes equipped with an electronic program guide (EPG) that simplifies the process of finding and scheduling recordings. The intuitive interface and advanced search options enable you to navigate through available channels and programs effortlessly. Say goodbye to manual channel surfing and embrace the convenience of the T3-R's EPG. When a partial or failed series recording is re-recorded by the T2•R, the original recording will be deleted, unless it is in the process of being viewed. The USB port is a bit of a disappointment, as it can only be used for software upgrades. And since software upgrades are easier to do via WiFI or Ethernet, the USB port is all but useless at this point- maybe we’ll get more out of it in the future. The T2•R can also be manually set to a resolution in the Picture & Sound section of the Settings menu. This could cause an issue if you set a resolution (e.g. 1080p), then move the T2•R to another TV that doesn't support that resolution.

Fixed an issue that could cause the audio to go out of sync in live pause mode after using fast forward or rewind. The Automatic Service Update (ASU) previously took place every time the T2-R entered standby. It now takes place only once overnight. HDMI-CEC Support:If your TV’s HDMI port supports HDMI-CEC (and it’s turned on), then starting from Version 1.5, your Manhattan Box will be able to control your TV. That means that if you turn the box on or off – it will also turn your TV on and off. And, the same goes for your soundbar (as long as it’s also connected via HDMI). Ensure your aerial is connected to your T2•R and an HDMI or AV cable is connected from your T1 to your TV.

Additionally, a “Go To” button lets you jump to an exact point in the recorded content – very useful if you’re looking for something specific. Fixed an issue when using the T2-R with a Pioneer VSX-920-K AV receiver that caused the audio to be lost. The DTR-T4000 boasts two built-in tuners, allowing you to record one channel while simultaneously watching another live channel. This feature ensures that you never have to choose between your favourite programs, even if they are airing at the same time. Because of their determination to get this sorted, "it's our top priority to understand & resolve as reliable timers are a must for a PVR", I'm willing to persevere with the box for now .
